Joe
has always enjoyed being a cog in the music machine. Born in Southwestern
PA, he was first bitten when the British invasion came to the states,
but his first stint was as a drummer in his high school marching band.
As the demand for marching bands in the club scene diminished he knew
he had to find another gig. Having always found the deep groove of the
bass appealing, from bands like the Stones, Animals and Zombies, he
decided to answer that call. He purchased his first bass guitar, which
he played upside-down (couldn't afford a left-handed), and joined his
first rock band. As with most high school garage bands, college put
an end to that gig and he found himself in Philadelphia. Since then
he has burned up numerous years with local bands of various genre. In
the middle of a 12 year run with a country band, he and a band-mate/girlfriend
worked on their writing skills and did a CD of original material in
Nashville. It was a truly a learning experience and you can still find
copies of the CD being used for leveling furniture and other household
and garden needs. Feeling the need to put aside the rock and dig up
some country roots again, he answered an ad that led him to Sherry's
door. The rest of Joe's story you can watch unfold when you come to
her performances......'cause that's where he'll be.

At
the age of 10, Joe saw his Uncle Gary perform "Wipe Out" and
decided immediately to start studying drums. Joe began studying drums
with Kenny Kness (Aviator, Raging Slab). Barely a freshman in high school,
Joe began performing regularly throughout
NYC, NJ and eastern PA. Joe continued performing and studying with Kenny
Kness until he graduated from high school, at which time he was accepted
at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Joe attended
Berklee from 1991 - 1995. While at Berklee, Joe studied drumset with
many great teachers including: Rick Considine, Ed Kaspik and Skip Hadden
(Weather Report). Joe also studied Brazilian percussion with Ed Uribe,
marimba with Nancy Zeltsman and timpani and orchestral percussion with
Richard Flanagan. In 1995, Joe graduated Magna Cum Laude earning his
Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee. Since returning home from Berklee,
Joe has maintained a steady and rewarding performance schedule. Joe
currently works as an Instrumental Music Teacher in a New Jersey Public
School where he conducts the Concert Bands, String Orchestra and Jazz
Band.
